Hi Alex,

Just to keep you up to date, my wife Sharon and I stopped in at the San
Marcos Sheriff's Department today and talked to officer Bennett for about
20 minutes (right there in the lobby for anyone to listen), who said she
had to talk to officer Kelleher before getting anything started (as in,
real, bona-fide paperwork), and she'll do that tomorrow night when they
will both be on duty at the same time.

I dropped a few hints regarding how I felt about Kelleher so far, like that
I believe he's guilty of "obstruction of justice" and that "he seems to be
acting as an attorney for the defendant."  I made it clear I was very
disappointed with the way this "investigation" has gone so far, and I
informed her that I had talked to someone at my local police department who
made it clear that with this level of information, the standard operating
procedure is to, at the very least, go and talk to Cunningham.

She assured me that Cunningham's being a well-known personality would not
influence how she would handle this case.  She could not deny that the
information on the sticker from the car part appeared to be ample all by
itself for the police to be able to find the other car.

Of course, I'll let you know as soon as anything new happens.

Yours,

Russell Hoffman
